"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

From the great George Carlin, hope this helps ...

When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!

Cheers

that is surely your mistake of thinking that "religion" and having "faith in the Lord Jesus as your Savior" are the same thing......they are nothing of the same, as a matter of fact they are completely opposite of each other.
but hey, that's your belief and that's fine.

No, the point is, is it's a matter of belief and personal choice and slamming people for their personal beliefs is immature and disrespectful.

You BELIEVE he doesn't exist, many believe he does. Neither can prove it, so what's the point of poking at people's beliefs?

Are some non believers that insecure in their beliefs that they only feel justified if they irritate others?

Neo Atheists: Militant Atheists are funny.

So much angst about something they don't even believe exists.

For someone who doesn't believe in religion they sure do have a lot to say about it.

I personally dont find what religion has done to my country one bit funny. Nor do i think the rape and molestation of countless children while in the "care" of the church one bit funny, nor how the true believers fly planes into buildings, nor how millions of grieving parents were told by the church their unbaptisted infant child that died is in limbo, nor how the church has convinced governments in developing countries that are overrun with AIDS that contraception is evil, nor the crusades the list goes on and on. These are the people who say we cant be moral without a god.

And you wonder why there are those who are opposed, i dont need to believe in a god (or should i say...i wont be forced to love someone i must fear), to see the pain, misery and suffering this idea spund by man has caused.

Flawed reasoning.

I'm not going to waste too much time on this.

If religion is flawed, the religion of Atheism is the most flawed religion out there.

Let me use your flawed reasoning.

Atheists have killed as many if not more of mankind than all Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, put together.

Even a cursory look at history will prove this.

Atheism was the state religion of the former USSR. Cambodia. North Korea. China.

How many violations of human life, rights occurred and continue to occur in these countries?

People can commit whatever crimes and claim their religion endorses it.

The problem lies with the individual not the religion.

I disagree with your accounting sir, but lets say for the sake of argument your right. Its the believers who claim we cant be moral and good to one another without some sort of big brother or superhuman controlling power. Yet they themseleves have done many truely evil things against their fellow man. And in many cases, their religion and texts DO endorse it.

Religion: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal god or gods.

The two are the same...

And as a humamist, the idea of being forced to love someone that your also supposed to fear is something i strongly object to.

No, their not the same.
To do something 'religiously' is more a ritual, the word doesn't even have to do with anything about God or a church.

And yes, many evil people used 'religion' as an excuse to do evil things.

None of them were following the one book that is the guidepost for Christianity. The bible. So none of these 'religious' people were even following the bible.

That's the difference. Someone who sets their life by what the bible says, that God says, will not steal, not commit murder, not lust, not covet, etc etc.

Therefore, none of those people were following God, they were following a man made religion.

Open User Options Menu

One more thing on that, religion itself is man made principles, if you want to test the theory, write down all these things you associate with religion. Then grab a bible, start in the new testiment, and read, try to find support for them. Anything that is not there, or is even opposed, is the man made stuff we call religion.

Associating what evil people do by them twisting things for their own means, and then putting that on all people who believe in God, is stereo typing to the max. It's just like racism.

Careful dear Sir ... the Bible also does contain a warrant for trafficking in humans, for ethnic cleansing, for slavery, for bride-price, and for indiscriminate massacre ...

Always amazes me how some people "highjack" threads with stuff like this.

Lots of good websites out there to debate religion till-the-cows-come-home.

Can I (nicely) suggest that you move it over there?

Good training to all!

Dear Sir, this thread started as a commentary on AJ's colourful life and as you can see we exchanged some veryinteresting points of view ... but I do agree that this thread has reached failure, time to exercise our recovery ability ...

Sorry not the same...inseperable...giving its true meanimg.

The commandmemts: the first few are merely injunctions, and force one to love someone you must fear, theres nothing moral about them, the next lot are self evident, and the last put woman on the same level as beasts, moreover, isnt it strange theres no commandments like thou shalt not keep slaves..
which many christains did, or thou shalt be kind to children. It also doesnt specify who we should not kill, which is why Mosses (a man who outside of the bible doesnt even exsist), went out and murdered right after taking supposed instructions from god.

This book also talks about virgins that bare children, dead men that walk and snakes that talk. Well as the saying goes, exceptional claims do require exceptional evidence.

I have, it was forced upon me as a child, then when i asked too many questions in sunday school i was told to leave and was punished by my parents.
I was also told to love god with all my heart, and to fear him (hence the term "god fearing") fail this duty and you are a wretched sinner that wont be saved. Some choice.

No, these are principles.
Love your neighbor as yourself, that's not a do it or be punished thing, it's a 'if we all did this, people would get a long a lot better'. Don't steal? Don't murder? Not sure how those could be made to be a bad thing...
