"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Dr. Ken,

Funny, funny.

The guy you were referring to was Jerry Sanders, and yes, he was a graphic artist, who worked at Nautilus for probably two years. Before that, he was a student at FSU, and that's where I met him . . . in the Florida State weight room.

I vote for David Landau to do his best Arthur Jones impersonation . . . and film himself doing the Multi-Biceps machine . . . and put it on this discussion forum.

What about it David?

I will work on that, we are working to get the NEW TRAINING FACILITY done. So maybe starting in 5 weeks and we will have the sick Nautilus arm machines for that. Like Kim always says ARTHUR ROCKS! This thread should be all about him, thanks for putting in the same paragraph as MR JONES. David

Ell: the importance of your new book is great. Arthur Jones is an important person in the evolution of weight training. Your writings on Arthur and "high intensity training" have carried the Arthur Jones legacy for years... all attempts by others to represent Arthur's personal history, personal style, personal values, training ideas and creative spirit have been amateurish at best.

I don't think Arthur cares about his "legacy" but I(and I'm sure many others) feel strongly that Arthur and his many contributions to the "iron game" should not be lost. In the craziness of today's strength world I do feel that without your efforts Arthur would be forgotten or terribly mis-represented.

Your new book is a very important connection to an almost magical past...and a bridge that will keep the ideas and energy of a very smart man (a "one-of-a-kind" man) alive and vital in the future...

Kim,

I appreciate your thoughts on my books, especially the new one. Arthur absolutely deserves to be remembered . . . in the right way.

Guys,

Sorry, but technical difficulties are keeping the announcement about the new book from being posted tonight.

Maybe tomorrow . . . or Monday.

I'm looking forward to the new book. Will there be a chapter in regard to the psychology of HIT?

I hear you loud and clear! The few times I've trained commercially I saw no-one training remotely hard except myself. I got all types of stares, but guess who finished their workout first, and who came away fulfilled? Which is why I am content to train like a madman in my well-equipped home gym, away from those who believe they "train". LOL

"The New Bodybuilding for Old-School Results" is going on the printing press tomorrow . . . and right now I'm preparing to fly to Milwaukee, where the printer is located. I'll be back at my home in Florida late Wednesday.

There are a number of changes and technical issues, related to this Web site, which necessitate my feedback and approval. And I must be on-call at my computer for them to occur in a timely manner.

Therefore, due to my travels, I'm going to delay the posting of Part 2 of the Patterson/Darden discussion, which leads into the pre-publication offer.

The article is now scheduled for posting on October 6th. And the book is still due in the warehouse on October 16th.

Looking straight thru me, he said "Now that you've failed at bodybuilding what else do you plan on failing at?"

I didn't bother answering, i had gotten the point ;)

You didn't need Arthur to tell you that. But thanks for backing up what I already know.

"It's as if HIT ? the real HIT ? has lost its voice. Today, HIT is composed mostly of a bunch of, well . . . sissies ? guys who couldn't train hard if their lives depended on it . . . guys who'd rather talk about training than actually workout hard."

So true, especially in this forum.

Looking forward to Part 2...

Hi Dr. Darden,
I haven't checked this thread in a couple of days and didn't realize you were coming to Milwaukee till just now. That is my neck of the woods.

I would offer you the company car but one of my agents is using it because she crashed hers. Let me know if you need a lift someplace and I or one of my people will get you there and back. Also, you always have a place to stay in the lower level of my home. It is completely finished and private with a full bath, living room, office, computer/fax, and queen sized bed.
