"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Keep in mind that very few people weight trained at that time. Are you the guy who keeps bidding against me on E-bay for old magazines?

Mainsteam bodybuilding literature feeds people with images of drug-fed bodybuilders, physiques which are unrealistic to strive for. I thought it would be nice to share photos of drug-free bodybuilders.

Tahnks for posting those images, I thought it was pretty cool to see the drug free body builders. I liked the one from 1890.

That is pretty cool Ben.

Do you think that those guys could have been larger/lean today w/o taking steroids? I would think that the knowledge of nutrition plus creatine could have made them look closer to guys today.

I don't believe the measurements listed for most of these guys. I think the measurements are greatly exaggerated.

For example: Dick Dubois, 6ft 1in, 220lbs, 49in chest, 33in waist, 25.5in thighs, 17in calves, 18in arms, 14in forearms, 18in neck.

Mike Mentzer's arms were no bigger than 18" or so in his prime and FAR dwarfed Dubois. Arnold had around 19'19.5" and his were surely more than an inch bigger than Dubois looking at his pic.
