"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

HI all.

I would like to know from anyone who can help me.
I would like to know how safe is it to gym when ill?
Presently I just got a cold and need to know if there are any risks in gyming with a cold. Usually I would take a break however lately my gyming has pretty good so I don't want to take a break yet a loose the momentum

Yes

Training while having a cold or other form of infection in the body could kill you. If you are smart you will rest and get well before training again.

Training while sick is not good for you. You already have a suppresses immune system and hard training will just add to. On the other hand, probably all of us here have trained when we weren't feeling well. It depends on just how bad you feel and what kind of illness you have.

I'll generally train with a cold but not with the flu. It's also sometimes hard to tell if symptoms are simply due to allergies which I'll also train through.

Having a virus in your body means that the heart and brain can be infected too, and if that happens...

Has anyone heard of classic bodybuilding which is now apparantly being promoted by IFBB. It is based on height and weight relationship. Basically at a certain height you will have a certain maximum weight.

The calculations vary dependent in which height catogory. I think it is another attempt from IFBB to get into the Olympics. I do think it is a good idea especially for naturals and the younger guys to give them a fair chance a winning a show these days.

My opinion is that the IFBB will NEVER be allowed into the Olympics-the panel's view the IFBB the way bodybuilders view the now defunct WBF-as a joke- a circus freak show.....and it is my sincere hope that it stays that way, thats my opinion-nothing more..nothing less......

Although I am all for a governmental "hands off" philosophy on most issues- I sincerely believe it is in our country's best interests to put more and more pressure on these celebrity sports organizations which have such an influence on our young.

Dont get me wrong, I truly would like to see Bodybuilding as an Olympic Sport--but the controlling factors in bodybuilding do not run it as sport-its solely business-and there is the debate of art versus sport and which does bodybuiling really fall under...
