"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Is that the 71 Mr. America?

I mentioned that Mentzer vid in the thread about Arnie using Nautilus equipment. In Part 1 Mentzer is seen doing reps on that same exact machine. In all it is a nice series of Mentzer videos with an emphasis on HIT.

The second video is of Viator winning the 1971 Mr. America. Even though the video is poor, you can still see the muscular size and shape that Casey had in his arms, shoulders, and chest.

I was surprised at the form. Not exactly superslow. It seems his emphasis was more on intensity and less on picture-perfect form. It certainly worked. Drugs or not, muscle like that doesn't build itself.

I've used the "guage" he mentions in the video for rep speed for a long time now. That is, if you can hold the contracted position without falling back or bouncing, then the weight / rep speed are OK. If you can't hold the fully flexed position, you're using too much momentum / weight. Nice to know I'm in reasonably successful company with that.

His abs were pretty damn good also.

That's actually Ray Mentzer in a lot of those exercise clips. Mike wears a "Heavy Duty" shirt in this video.

It Goes on for approx. 10 minutes. He looks very large.

is it just me who thinks like that or is Ray really moving the weights pretty fast eventhough mike advice of a slow cadence, even in the video he is talking about a slow controlled manner, which in my opinion isn't shown. Evenmore if you take a look a the HIT Video with Markus where he talks a lot about momentum and so on.
I for myself am certainly not a superslow player or anything, for me 2-1-4 cadence works best til now.

what do you say Dr. Darden if you look at this old HIT Video ?

What cadence did Casey V actually use during his workouts with AJ and you ?

Mr. Strong

The ROM on the Dips was rather short, I thought he would go deeper.

Yeah I thought the same thing when viewing the video. There form was ok and the rep speed was too fast. Also in some exercises where they could hold the weight in a contracted position they didnt do that either. They really failed at showing how to properly perform H.I.T.

Its really messed up to see how large the bodybuilders of today are. They all look horrible just not pleasing at all. Looking at Casey who I beleive was 5' 8''in tall and a top weight of 218 is huge!! Today you get someone of that height weighing in at a lot more...why? Its so messed up that anyone would want to be bigger.
