Maybe someone could shed some light on this subject please as I'm still a bit baffled. Is eating late in the evening bad for your sleep pattern or metabolism? I eat usually around 6-7pm or when we get it as I also eat five to six small meals per day for gains, but does eating after 9pm (if I'm going to go to sleep around 10:30pm to 11pm) disturb my body's system?

Don't know if there is any science that says there is, but since we burn a lot of calories during sleep, I'm not seeing the problem with it. I'm a night owls so it's not uncommon to have a meal at 10 or 11pm which would be about 3 hours after dinner.

I guess the thermal effect of food causes metabolism to speed up particularly if you eat protein. I also hear that GH is inhibited.
Would really like to know where this suggestion comes from though. Who did the research and when?

Alright, so you got me. What the freak is wrong with you? Leave me alone. I can't sleep if I'm hungry.
I try not to eat more than 5000 thousand calories per meal.
I mean per day, per day.

I think you should be more worried about whether you are eating nutrient dense food or nutrient deficient food i.e. empty calories. And eat no more than 5000 calories per meal.

Well, I did have a good meal. I can't sleep now. All the more reason why if you eat late you better make sure you aren't eating junk food, because you are going to have to get by on less sleep, so you need the better nutrition.

That's my meal no. #6 at 11PM: a fresh fruit with light yogurt or cottage cheese.

Eating late is fine (for me at least!).
I have no other chance then to eat at 21:00, +/-1 hour during weekdays! I go to bed around 23:00 usually.
I have problems if:
- I have too much high fiber food(like in raw cabbage, onions, beans, mushrooms and such things)
- Combine high fat with high carbs in huge amounts (like in spaghetti carbonara, mmmmhhh)
I have no problems at all if:
- Combine high protein with high carb (like in pasta with tuna-sauce or poultry, fish)
- Combine high fat with high protein with a small amount of easier to diggest fibrous food (cooked veggies like zucchini, carrots etc.)

Oh yes, not forgetting that 3500 calories is a pound of fat gained, so good job.

So then it's okay? Were there ever any studies conducted to support the idea that it may be a bad idea? And what about this view of yours what supports that?
I must say I never get problems with my sleep that I notice.

Eat at whatever time of the day you want to, Eating before bed won't effect your sleep, haven't you ever had a big meal and can do nothing other than sleep? I like when this happens after a big meal :)

Dammed right why not all weight yourselves last thing at night and first thing in the morning, I have about a 3 pound difference, more on this later.
Some say not to eat a high in carb meal at night, but high protein.
I eat late at night, as I am now just going to have not one but two Brazilian stakes, and a bar of coffee flavoured chocolate.
If you?re a night owl at 10 or 11pm, I must be a ??? As its 2.58 here now.

I didn't say I went to bed at 10 or 11. The 3 pounds is phantom gain to me. I can weigh myself first thing in the AM and then before a workout. Not unusual to be a few pounds heavier and then the 3lbs is goen the next AM.
