"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

6'0 or 6'1 with shoes on at the Dr.

I can't prove what the scale said, and I am not even going to justify it.

I would love to see you at 20 yrs old bro, wait, you won't post a picture because you are scared, right?

I never claimed to be some miracle, never claimed to have great genetics. I do believe they are better than a lot of guys I see, or at least guys like you who will never post a picture.

Yes, I could have been leaner, could have done water depletion, could have done a lot of things, but that was me consuming 2100 calories a day and hardly 60 grams of protein total.

Now, let's see your pictures:)

Great pics smanjh , what was your training like at this juncture ?

I was using the intermediate 5x5 routine.

4 months earlier, I was using the ideal routine from Mentzer and was 208 pounds.

To be fair though, I was under eating to the point of feeling sick to get there. Like, I would be starving at night to the point of vomiting sometimes trying to keep calories at 1800 then.

I threw all caution to the wind with calories and so forth following Mentzer's consolidation routine and got fat as hell as it happens with me (leanness like that guy in The New Hit will never happen for me, but I will still try).

Now I am trying to get to 240 from 299 by January 1 in that same condition. If I can do that, I would have achieved my goals.

I don't know how much bigger I could possibly be. I threw every HIT technique from Darden's New HIT at myself and I still would not grow at all.

The same was the case with me on the consolidation routine.

I did a higher frequency, higher volume routine and appeared to be somewhat bigger at least, but I believe I am near the end of my rope with this picture, maybe 10 pounds or maybe 15 more, then get as lean as possible.

Oh yeah, I did not do cardio to lose all the weight, just Darden's plan. I went from 284 to 208, then to 225 (wish I took a picture of the scale, but even then I would be accused of fudging it.

I have said it before on here, me at 225 looks like 180 or so. I only looked 225 from a bone standpoint when I stood next to a guy who was 180 pounds.

I am now doing my experiment to see if HIT with periodization (deloading) can get me to that 240 pounds in that condition.

Thank you, and everyone else that said anything constructive or even negative.

These pictures and how I looked then was what I was happy with. Sure, there are a ton of genetic flaws, not enough muscle, and not lean enough or whatever, but to me, the whole point was to get chicks. That is why I started, but not why I continue to train, lol.

I had lost 50 pounds to this point and totally changed the way I saw myself. That is success in my book.

Hey Smanjh do you still follow a low protein diet as Dr.D recommends?

Thanks man. I am 24 now, I was 20 in the pictures.

Through injury and stuff, I atrophied a little, but it takes a lot of time to make me shrink up, and I gain it back real fast.

My problem is adding too much fat and training abs, lol.

I am 299 now, hoping to match that shape at 235-240. Only a 10-15 pound difference, but who knows what will happen.

That's the ticket. I went out to Oklahoma City in 2005 and I was average to small. Here in Greenville SC, I was really good walking around like that, and I have yet to meet a wider shouldered guy just walking around town or in gyms at the same height.

The midwest has some monsters out there, just bigger people in general. I felt really cool out there because I was 'normal', and here I am bigger than most.

I will be the first one to admit that I don't have a hope in hell of ever matching Arnold or Viator, and I really am OK with that. I just want to see how far I can personally go for fun now.

Southbeach does a great disservice to HIT and Jones because he is out here telling people he uses the methods, telling people he uses the machines, but also tells people he looks like he doesn't train. He has to be someone playing an elaborate joke.

Yes...great pics.

Maybe we should all take a few more pics at the end of the summer to see where we stand.

Southbeach...I don't know what you look like, but I know you have very low self-esteem. I feel sorry for you.

Lookin great bigfella, very ripped and you keep gaining muscle at the same time... accomplishing this naturally as you are requires serious discipline.

Dont you know, single set TF, infrequent training does not work?

:)

Glynn, good job but you need to start eating a lot more food to sustain gains.

Thanks for the comments. I'll post some leg shots when I've got some before and afters edited together. They're not huge by any stretch of the imagination, but I reckon that I've seen some decent progress, especially since I started doing leg presses on regular basis.

yes you have made progress. I have had the opportunity to travel to many places and attend many different gyms, and i can tell you it is very rare to see someone lean and muscular, mosty carry far too much fat.

they do this cause mostly their training methods are sub-par and if they could ever put together the discipline to lose the fat (doubtful) they would have nothing left cause they had very little muscle to begin with just bloat and water mostly.

muscle will flex fat does not. its easy to see that when someone is training if they do not increase in size with a good pump they have higher fat levels.

The larger the pump when training the more real muscle that person has cause the blood is engorging the muscle fibers.

But the blood will not pump (expand) in the fat.

Bodybuilding is as much or more about being lean as it is gaining muscle.

your proving its possible to gain lean tissue while remaining lean using HIT.

Nice mature response. You are a credit to humanity.

(That was sarcasm in case you are too stupid to realise)
