"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

The old reach down and stuff the hanging flesh back up your ass trick was classic Jones and true. Jones himself describes the feat in his autobiography.
I believe Jones had his brother operate to remove his hanging, fleshy hemorrhoids. Jones probably stayed awake thru the whole thing and threw them to the crocs upon completion(he didn't like waste).
Bill Pearl mixed with Arthur like oil and water (with no corexit).

from the article it seems that bill pearl was "the muse" that got jones going on the invention of nautilus. he showed aj a cammed machine [bicep curl] years b-4 aj dreamed up nautilus. he told aj not to go with a multi station unit [like universal] --go with the stand alone models. either bill is telling the truth or he has one hell of an ego .

no one comes up with everything on their own in any business but bill is saying he pointed aj through the entire process. could be who knows? if true aj should have thrown him some bucks

SouthBeach, I'm trying to remember if Coco cola and cigarettes was what you and Jones had for dinner when you two were together, ha ha..
Seriously though, it would have been some amazing experience to have been able to spend any time with Jones.

I could not imagine Jones being nice to SB unless SB was way different then.

Not a dig, but if SB was in fact gay and a liberal, I would think Jones would have sniffed him out in the first few minutes.

Again, not a dig SB, just always wondered that about your visit.

I would be curious hearing from Dr. D, Dr. Ken etc. on this.

This makes AJ seem like a nut!

AJ was not a nut far from it..he was an incredibly smart interesting guy that also had low tolerance for those that couldn't keep up. he was thinking and moving at the speed of light, and i loved it!

i should add that i'm an avante guard kind of guy myself (as you can tell by my staunch position of diet) so maybe that's why i liked and admired AJ a lot.

although let me make this clear i was never one of his close friends or in the inner circle. i met him a few times, talked with him a few times that's all but it was enough for me to recognize his genius and his incrdibly rare ability to get things done, HIS WAY!

AJ wasn't "nice" to anyone (that i saw) in the conventional sense of the word. he was all biz, no bs. always in control. i had no problem with that, actually i admire him more than many men. but if you checked your ego at the door, opened your ears and mind, you learned so much.

Arthur Jones was a very rare and special individual. very smart and very capable, to say the least.

ps the way i looked at it was it was HIS "tent". find your own tent if you want to do your own preachin.

I can't imagine Jones being nice to anyone other than maybe some hot babe, ha ha.
He would have probably ripped Southbeaches head off but then again he might have done that to Pearl at one point as well if he could have, ha ha..

Was I there? No. I didn't have to be there to know that Jones was hard to deal with. I've read enough stuff about Jones to know that he was one angry man and could as easily mash the face of a friend or foe under the right circumstances.

One minute you're friendly, the next you are your usual ass self. No one knows anything about you because you provide nothing of substance, just talk.
By the way, I'd love to plow a field somewhere ! At least that would be more productive and less aggravating then chatting with you!

8heads, since meeting AJ was the high point of your life maybe you should consider wrapping it up.
