"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."
This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Here's the photographic result of my first 8 weeks following the routines and diet in Dr. Darden's book, The New High Intensity Training. I am 6' 1" and 46 years old and obviously had neglected myself physically in recent years. Pic 1 was taken on July 23rd. Pic 2 this morning September 18th.
A while back, the practise nurse was appalled that I had weighed in at exactly 100.0 kg and my blood pressure was occasionally spiking at 150/99; she had wanted to put me on medication but I refused. I've now lost 28 lbs and b.p. readings over recent days have been: 107/74, 113/76, 112/73, 107/75, 107/79, 109/75, 111/78.
My weight has gone from 220.5 lbs to 192 lbs; my Phase I target is 174 lbs. I haven't lost weight as quickly as David Hudlow did in the book but I will get there. My waist has gone from 40.5 inches to 35.5 inches: 5 inches! (I haven't sucked my waist in whatsoever for the 2nd photograph)
When I get to my target weight I will attempt to put on some significant muscle but as a work-in-progress I'm delighted with the results thus far. I'm quite surprised I look a lot younger facially and I feel considerably better. My best jackets and trousers have come out of hibernation from my wardrobe. Even though it might not show in this side shot there is definitely some lat width forming and my youthful V-shape is starting to return.
Well, I got to my bodyweight target in the end. It took a bit a longer than planned due to personal issues but I'm now 22lb lighter than in the "after" photo.
In total I've lost 50.5 lbs and 7.5 inches off my waist since July 23rd. I'm weighing in at a svelte 170lbs from a terrible (for me) 220.5lbs in the summer. I'm the exact bodyweight I was when I was 22 years old. One thing I'm pleased about is my waistline; there's no flabby stretched skin leftover even though I was fat for 15 years.
I look somewhat emaciated hence you'll have to wait till I've beefed-upped with Phase II and the creatine before I'm willing to post another pic!
Blood pressure is great, I'm 46 years old and it is now consistently around 100/68. It's great feeling so much lighter and not lugging so much lard around. Thanks for the all support and motivation given.
