"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Unfortunately there's hardly a decent shot of Reeves in that trailer. It's almost like it was hot today with everything moving so fast you can hardly tell it's Reeves much less see his muscles.

Hi Tony,

Saw that flick when I was 11 or 12 and it inspired me to get a barbell set and start throwing the discus.

Over 50 years later I still remember the impressions it made.

Scott,

If you want, you can see the entire movie at Internet Archive.

Click on the link below:

Then click on the arrow in the middle of the screen to start the film which is almost 85 minutes long.

In the film, Reeves is an Olympic champion, who is named the leader of the Greek army.

The first scenes of the film show Reeves throwing the javelin or spear, running, wrestling, swimming, etc.

Many of the bodybuilders of the time, including Reg Park, starred in scores of these so-called "sword-and-sandals" films from 1958 to 1964. Most are badly dubbed and filmed in Italy.

ClassicCinemaOnline.com has many of these films. Click "Adventure" for a list.

"Fire Monsters Against the Son of Hercules", starring Reg Lewis, a former Mr. Universe (not Reg Park), is set in the Ice Age.

Since Hercules was born thousands of years after the Ice Age, the son of Hercules, in this movie, is thousands of years older than his father.

Go figure.
