"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

If I was to have someone design my physique after a super hero it would most likely come from Jack Kirby, the Marvel comics master!! His Thor will do quite nicely for me, long hair and all!!

What should Superman look like in the new film scheduled to begin shooting in August?

Henry Cavill, to play Superman in "The Man of Steel" in 2013 talks about training:

Henry, what was the physical training like, to prepare for this, and how did it get you ready to play Superman?

Henry Cavill: "The physical training was extensive and exhausting. I think I was doing 9 to 5, at one stage, with the training. You certainly learn a lot, when you go through that process once.

"You learn about how to do it more efficiently the second time. Although I've had a trainer both times, it's a very different kind of thing for this next job (Superman).

"For example, I'm 25 pounds heavier now than I was in Immortals. That is enough said, really. It's prepared me, mentally.

"When you have that negotiation, when you're training and you get to that rep which is difficult, and you know you've got 10 more reps to go in that one set, and another five sets after that, and you say, 'I don't really have to do this. I can do something else.

"If I just put the weights down and have a bit more rest, it will be fine.' It teaches you how to negotiate and win the negotiation, and how to notice the lie in your head, which is, 'Oh, it hurts it's dangerous,' as opposed to, 'Yeah, it hurts, but that?s good.'
"As my new trainer says, it doesn't have to be fun to be fun. That's very telling."

You're right. They're doping.

there is a good book about that type of training... called "Legal Muscle", also there is a movie "Bigger, Stronger, Faster"... everyone in this forum should read the book and watch the movie and all your questions for years to come will be instantly answered.

Vince Gironda had been doing all this with the stars of yesteryear for many years in his north hollywood gym. Heres a pic of him training Carl Weathers ( Rocky )

He would take stars and seemingly transform their physiques in a matter of 6 weeks ( in some cases ) by diet and exercise choice that would create the illusion of size , emphasis on shoulder and pectoral width and de-emphasising the waist and hips , thus creating a more tapered/aesthetic look.
And all done without steroids !!

Do you think Stallone used steroids?

And;

If Stallone used steroids, why wouldn't Carl Weathers?

Marc , look up the hollywood stars that Gironda trained in the 50`s & 60`s ... they were drug free.
Do you think Bill Smith ( above ) did too Marc or Clint Eastwood .

YES Stallone used ( Gironda didnt train him ) , I have no idea if weathers did or not .

Smith obviously knew his way around a gym. I don't think he was a 4 week wonder, because he was essentially the best built guy in every film you see him in with the exception of Conan.

Stallone was busted with HGH in Australia..all over google for those interested.

It is clear to me he started using circa Rocky III.

Just look at Stallone's head. Looks just like Travolta's. Two HGH poster boys.

His costume looks like it came from an alligator.

Cavill looks to be in good shape.

The costume hides any physique defects.

The rubbery looking costume makes it hard to tell if it is padded.

Ditch the greasy hair ... makes Superman look like a lounge singer.

And where is the iconic "S" spit curl?

The costume looks fine although it looks like alligator skin.

Guess the underpants OVER the costume are history.
