"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."
This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Duno if any of you read recently but Art Atwood has died of a massive heart attack.
I found this out by chance as i looked at the current olympia guys and realised all the guys that were popular in Flex magzine in early 2000s were not there.
I decided to look a few up to see where they were now and i was very shocked at some of the findings.
Mustaffa mohhamad - looks like a different guy now he looks like someone who has never touched a weight in his life yet he was one of the biggest guys on stage, he now looks like a guy youd expect to see in a take away shop deep frying you chicken pakora.
Craig Titus - jailed for murder
Don Youngblood - heart attack
Mike Morris - had to stop for health reasons, looks like a skinny aids victim now
Tom Prince - see Morris description
A good few others have gone too
I was shocked but not surprised at Atwoods death some people who seen him competing years back actually said he looked as if it was painful to walk. Iknow from good sources that these guys are on levels of gear/insulin/ghg/diuretics that are just astronomical to say the least and Atwood was a massive user there is no doubt.
For those of you who want a reality check the next time you feel aggrieved with your 180-230lb bodyweights and 300-400lb squats just google mustaffa mohammad and you will see just how detached from real natural training these guys are and you will se what they look like off their gear.
So much for the nonsense you read on muscle boards that 'oh gear only helps a little bit' oh you still have to train hard etc etc etc. The truth is these guys have no clue how to train whilst off gear and a huge number clearly went on the gear pretty much from the start as evidenced from their atrophied bodies.

Sorry, but could you tell us what he was?? Olympia contender??
He was a big time IfBB pro and yes he competed at the Olympia
He was one of the largest competitors
I feel a bit sorry for him as years back i remember reading an article with him in muscular development. He was asked various questions one of which was along the lines of what do you want to do when you retire? Hos reply was play golf! But the question was ridiculous as aksking a pro what will he do when he retires is like asking a heroin addict what do you plan to do when your 60 the reality is they aint ever getting there with the chemicals they use.
I also remember him saying he had a dream about competing at 300lbs on stage, at the time he was around 260-270 on stage. To even think that he could add another 30 lbs of muscle just wakes you up to the chemicals these guys use

I guess we'll hear the usual spin that "heart disease ran in his family".
Exactly Sonny
It seems every pro athlete or celebrity who dies young has a history of some medical ailment running in the family.
A few years back a very gay celebrity died at around 30 or so years old here in the UK. His death was put down to SADS (sudden adult death syndrome) however no mention was made of the fact that years prior to this in his boy band he had been partying hard every night and more than likely taking drugs like cocaine and engaging in mass gang bangs with probably 3-6 men at a time!
As he grew out this behaviour he my have stopped and then suddenly died but it was the years before that of fast living which took his tool on his body, some people though cant read between the lines!
Over here we have idiots that think Amy Winehouses death was caused by alcohol, it wasnr! Alcohol was merely the straw that broke the camls back, years of heroine dmaged her body nd the alcohol ws merely the substance in her body at the time of death.

Yes and no. What her dad said about it being from alcohol withdrawal has a lot of potential truth to it.
Alcohol is the most dangerous drug to withdraw from cold turkey. Heroin detox may be scary as $#!+, but it won't kill you. The worst long-term health effects from heroin actually relate to malnutrition maladies, since addicts forgo food to get their fix.
Alcohol detox can easily kill you if you've been steadily drunk for a long period of time. Of course, chronic issues of dehydration of and deprivation of other nutrients will certainly exasperbate the situation.
This is why heart arhythmia (sp?) is the typical cause of death for detoxing alkies and stems from dehydration and low electrolytes.
You may have a very valid point Dave, but her pop could be correct too. I just wanted to make clear that the heroin itself does miniscule damage compared to chronic alcohol abuse.
Of course, I'm making a lot of presumptions and can't be totally sure w/o knowing the true facts on the story --- which we may never find out.

not to minimize alcohol, but heroin withdrawal can and will kill the fuck out of you. Thus the detox centers in hopsitals where they monitor you 24/7 to make sure you don't die.

Same goes for Lex Luger, he looks like he has never lifted in his life.

Very good points on alcohol Scott completely agree! Every so often i actually scratch my head in amazement as to why both cigarettes and alcohol are allowed to be legal! Its just crazy as they make so much money on tax on them i know. But you will then get some smart arse who says 'the government bans (insert nasty thing here) because its bad for you as in the government actually gives a fuck whether its good or bad for you to which point i then ask 'why are cigarettes and alcohol' allowed, they have no answer!

Most conventional detox centers are there to monitor the psychological issues associated with heroin detox and make sure the addict kill themselves or hurt others as they suffer through the scariest and most uncomfortable parts of the detox. I guess arhthymia issues could occur after the vomiting or diahrrea too.
Interestingly, it appears that there is a greatest heart attack risk associated with some of the newer rapid detox methods.

Good topic, ddhitquin. I remember reading articles in Flex about Art Atwood in the late 90s. Like the other guys mentioned, he dissapeared from the from my memory. I did though lose interest in the Olympia etc in the early 00's. When you look at them now, to me, it shows there's no love for the iron to remain dedicated to training and health. Us naturals will train, remain healthy, and enjoy the ride all our life. It is clear these guys were addicts who did'nt get away with it.

It just left me quite surprised as like i say none of the guys that were on the Olympia stage this year bar maybe Cutler and Jackson, i just didnt know who they were. I decided to look up the guys i remember to find that half werent competing and looked like i say that they had never touched a weight in the ir lives or they were dead!
In the same magazine that i read with Atwood, there was another article with Don Youngblood who also died a good few years ago.
Il go see if i can dig out before and afters of some of these guys just to give you an idea of the difference the chemicals they take make.
Looks like a relation, not the same guy. Don Youngblood rings a bell. I'll google him. Do you know what happened to Mike Matarazzo? I remember reading that he was seriously ill, but recovered, and was in real debt. Be interesting to know.
