"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."
This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

On June 22 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim Wood held his #2 Football Strength Clinic. On Friday night, the topic of discussion was "Arthur Jones, The Master Teacher."
On hand to talk about Arthur and share many of his teachings and stories were (left to right):
Dan Riley
Ellington Darden
Kim Wood
Jim Flanagan
Roger Schwab
It was great to rehash a lot of events from the past 40 years and discuss the meaningful times we all experienced with a one-of-a-kind man, Arthur Jones.
Kim Wood's Football Strength Clinic was held at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, which not far from the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Approximately 140 coaches and strength-training enthusiasts attended the two-day event.
140 Strength coaches? What would be examples of where some of these coaches from? Do you think they learned anything? Did they ask you anything about training?
Thanks!
Rob
Most of the coaches were from high schools around Cincinnati. The university strength coaches were from Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Colgate, Kentucky, and Georgia. Those were the ones I remember.
A lot of stories about Arthur Jones were discussed and I had heard all of the them. In fact, I believe I've shared them on previous sections of this web site.

Who would you consider the ultimate authority on Arthur Jones? I'm guessing maybe you Dr. Darden?

Isn't the michigan strength coach a MAJOR advocate of more exercise? Was this a guy named Aaron Wellman? Did you disucss training with him? I think the main protocol at colleges is this Olympic ( throws ) lifting. Should have handed him a copy of your classic 'Conditioning for Footbal'.
Thanks Dr. D!
