Picture is of Andrew Shortt

THE Team wants to congratulate Natural Bodybuilders Andrew Shortt and Mike Lipowski for their placings at the IDFA International Championships this past weekend. Both men showed up in their all time best condition. Andrew placed 4Th in a very competitive Men's Open Lightweight Division. I'd like to point out two things about this accomplishment: 1) I've watched Andrew get better some EVERY single year consistently...this is VERY hard to do year in and year out and Andrew could easily take the easy way and compete in Men's masters with the old guys, since he's 45 years old, but he chooses to mix it up with the 20 and 30 year old men and in my opinion that's right where he belongs.

Mike placed 3rd in an elite Men's Lightweight Pro Division. He also hit his all time best condition. Mike also keeps getting better with age and experience. He really ties together the experience from each event and leverages his condition for the next.

One another not so interesting note; no one from across the pond decided to contest Andrew in the Men's Open Lightweight Division and no one from the states showed up with their fancy fancy Karate moves to challenge Andrew....you see, we have people who talk a big talk, but it's few and far between when a man commits and does it without a word.

Oh and BTW if you didn't catch it yet...The Future...It's now!

I have seen the Video on facebook - Nothing has changed (I am being honest). I guess I enjoy being Healthy by Not dieting down for these shows and being long over the Egos involved. (trust me - they last a lifetime). Kudos for what it is worth, but I really don't see much change.

Considering Andrew never got into serious bodybuilding, nor competed until about age 39-40, he's looking pretty darn sharp. Congratulations on your placing.

Well done Andrew , you obviously impressed someone , was Trentine the MC and/or judge ?
BUT , on a personal note I really don't relate to 4th place as being a success , even IF you look at the competition as being against your own previous best YOU still chose to compare YOU at your best against at least 3 others and were unsuccessful. I cant think how that must feel ( never been there , placing second just once sucked ) but if you are happy then that's all that counts.

Turpin, it's not always about winning a contest, but about the discipline and journey to be the best you can be... and looking as good or even better (as you age). That is what Andrew has accomplished and his overall placing is moot. For example, who won first place in his category and overall in this or any natural competition? I suspect not many know or care. Therefore, to care about placing first vs. fourth is irrelevant. Sure he and other may have a bigger smile if he came first, but it's like having an orgasm... within moments it's over and life continues... the climax has passed. Conversely, being able to apply exercise and nutrition science, and looking as good as Andrew does (and this is a guy without the extreme genetics, brothers and sisters) is the reward and demonstration of knowledge and understanding! And if you think Andrew not successful, then the rest of us must be real losers in the physique arena since we didn't complete and received no placement.

Mr.Johnston,

I believe he is upset because Mr.Shortt is out doing the things that he wants to be doing.

You have to give Mr.Shortt credit he looks great in the picture and no one can deny that.

Another from Mike's line up, he's intense and a honest to goodness HIT success story.

I'll stick up a show stage pic when they email them but i'm not a pro yet like Mike. I'm just in the open class still, it will take a lil longer to get that level of refinement in my posing and peaking ability. This time I under shot with eating fill out. Good news was I have gained more muscle so almost didn't make the weight without cutting water which of course hurt my fill out as well.

Bottom line though guys, we should all be proud, look at my ab shot...and I do zero cardio and train an average of 1.5 -2.5 times per week for less than 30 minutes!

Andrew

Well David not sure you can really tell much from amateur videos when it comes to natural guys...with natural B.B.ing water, food fill and posing can add or remove huge amounts. Why do we do it, like you did not so long ago?...for the love of it. When I get that lean and push the envelop I can best judge progress and its just plain old fun. Placing is just genetics, peaking and politics like ALL sports.

Take this fellow for instance. I video recorded him because I was truly inspired and happy to my core to see this type of thing now popping back up in natural B.B.ing. I met his Ma and family and talked to him briefly. He had just got his pro card a week before and was thrown in...at 164lbs...to the heavyweight line up. He placed last but he as it encompasses natural bodybuilding in my books (aesthetic, health and poise) was first...plus he has a kool name (Andrew ;n) He was humble, and passionate about muscle and REAL bodybuilding - he had honesty and integrity in his eyes. He took his lumps with grace and proved that when you keep out the drugs this can be meaningful.

I'm really surprised at all the disparaging remarks. It's cool if that level of leanness is not your cup of tea, but going to such lengths to put it down, just smacks of some other problems in your own lives.

Congrats to Andrew on his achievements. I believe some work on those lower pipes are in order, but other than that, you look outstanding.

Best,
Scott

You guys may drool over another man's physique but most men do not.

One of you sad sacks came here to post this BS so Shorty can get another pat on the back and that is truly pathetic. If he was doing this for the love of the sport he wouldn't need the attention and admiration you suck ups lay on him.

By the way in the future post a photo what wasn't taken in the bathroom (which I'm sure was needed for you guys to clean yourselves up). Nobody wants to see anybody standing next to a shitter.

Another point, don't show up here with your snide comments and think you're going to slide by. Post the facts and leave your ass kissing opinions somewhere else as I'm sure Andy's buddy on the voting panel had nothing to do with his final placement.

Lastly, I'm still waiting to see the number of contestants in his weight class. What are you hiding was it 6 or 8?
