"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Dr. Darden,

I've noticed with a lot of before and after weight loss pics and videos that are on youtube and television that the people often have loose skin left over after they lose a significant amount of weight. What I've also noticed is that it doesn't seem to be nearly as much the case with your weight loss before and after pics. I am wondering if it is simply because the diet you recommend has 60% carbs that the subjects are eating and also 20% fat, both higher percentages than the current fad diets going around which are high in protein, moderate or low in carbs and low in fats. Am I correct that this is the reason?

Best Regards,

Bryan

Bryan,

Yes, I believe my diet is a major reason for the condition of the skin. Hydrated skin retracts much better than dry skin, and my program certainly keeps the skin well hydrated.

Thank you sir.

So are you also saying that consuming a higher amount of carbs and fats also help the skin retract as well as drinking a large volume of water during the program?

Best,
Bryan

dan,

I've stated many times (see my New HIT book, page 229) that protein and amino acids are not very important in building larger and stronger muscles -- given that you are eating reasonable amounts of regular foods. BCAAs and other protein supplements are unnecessary.
