"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Some time ago I stated that Clint Walker when standing next to John Grimek made Grimek look like a midget.
I got a lot of posts stating I didn't know what I was talking about and that Walker beat Grimek in height. Well Conan O'brian is 6'5" and Clint Walker was only an inch taller than Conan.
Anyway here's the photo you decide if I was wrong.

Wow , it worked, I didn't think it would post but it did.
I have repeatedly stated in the past that I trained a guy who had tremendous potential but wasn't able to take advantage of it. He was following Arnold's double split training routine to the T.
He was using fairly heavy poundage for all of his exercises with multiple reps and exercises but he hit a plateau early on and wasn't able to achieve any results after that. He looked much better than the average guy but not much better than the top bodybuilders back then.
Anyway I talked him into using a strict Arthur Jones routine, which at the time consisted of 2 sets of 8-10 reps and working out no more than twice a week. This was well before Arthur decided one set of 8-10 reps once a week or even less.
Anyway I finally found a photo of Mike in one of the older magazines. Mike also got some good reviews in IronMan when he finally placed pretty high in some professional contests.
I will get someone to take a photo of the photo so I can post it. I have developed a pretty bad tremor and I can't take photos all I get is a blur.
So after I find the magazine with photos of Mike I will post them also so you can see a physique developed by following Arthur Jones advice.
As Mike had such good potential I am sure he would have done well even with Arthur's 3 set 3 times a week routine but he wouldn't have achieved what he did with 2 set twice a week routine and I think he could've done much better with even less exercise as Arthur delineated later down the road .
Have patience. Now Mike was no Arnold or Sergio he did win some national contests which is more than most can do.

Well Clint has the advantage of being in the foreground but truth be told there?s very few men alive then or now that can come close to Clint Walkers presence!! He was a mans man!!

When it comes to physical presence, tall guys have a big advantage.

Remember Wilt was about 7 foot 1 and I'm guessing Arnold maybe 6foot 1 if that? Pretty close but then it is Hollywood.

From the set of Conan the Destroyer. Just google the movie name plus Arnold and Wilt. You'll find several others. (Andre must have been visiting the set, because I don't remember that he was in the movie.)

Did Andre the Giant actually workout? It never appeared to me he did - I can only imagine how huge he might have gotten with that frame.

Andre had a disease. He was quite athletic when he was young man. There are a few good documentaries about his life.

That being said, he was exceptionally strong. One story comes to mind.

Arnold had dinner with him once and wanted to pay the check but Andre insisted he would, so Andre picked Arnold up like a child from his chair and set him up on the top of a tall free standing coat closet about 6' high like a nick knack (Arnold's words) so he would be out his way while he paid the check.

I stood right next to Arnold when he was guest posing in Chicago. He was barefoot and I was wearing flip flops.
He was signing autographs.
I am 5'13" and he was was about an inch taller than me so I would guess he is about 6'2" .
