"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

I won't belabor the point but there are scientific absolutes that will never change.
As Aristotle stated A = A. Uranium decays at a known rate under certain circumstances and at another under different circumstances.
The square root of 144 is 12. Etc.etc
I know that many Universities have professors who teach you can never know anything as everything is always in flux. However that's total BS. They don't even recognize that the above statement is presented as an absolute thus it negates itself.

It isn't worth arguing about, but I am pretty sure that most professional scientists do not accept the notion of 'scientific absolutes'.

A=A is a logical proposition, not science.

That the square root of 144 is 12 is math, which isn't science.

The consistency of certain physical constants, like the speed of light, is based entirely on observation, not theory. The speed of light will continued to be viewed as something fixed until someone makes a valid measurement that shows something different.

You cannot perform science without logic or math , the speed of light is the speed of light. It will not change ,indeed it cannot change it is an absolute.
Paper burns at 451 degrees Fahrenheit and that will never change. It will never burn at 450 degrees Fahrenheit no matter how much you want it to ,no matter how much you wish it to,it will only burn once it hits 451 Fahrenheit.
The problem is that people think that nothing is absolute because they don't take into account variables. They change a variable and the result changes so they point to that as proof that nothing is absolute.
Saying nothing is absolute contradicts itself thus it is therefore false.

Bill,

Please get over your man crush with Jones, it is wearing a bit thin.

Any statement that begins with "I think.." is subjective and is an educated guess at best but you seem to take those as fact. I don't think most people are interested in what Jones did or didn't say or even who he is for that matter.

Everyone here has read his stuff ad infinitum and nothing new will be or can be learned from any of his statements.

Lastly, much of what he regurgitated was well known long before he uttered it but you don't seem to realize or care about that small fact.

If you don't like what I post don't read my posts.
Arthur Jones was a genius of a high order with a lot of psychological problems.
However, whether you like it or not he changed the world for the better. I can't even imagine the number of people who were influenced for the better by his work. Not can I imagine just how many people were able to better there lives because of his work.
I know this much however Arthur Jones did more good for more people than you could in 10 lifetimes.
Men like Arthur deserve admiration and recognition for what they have done and it is only right that they are given their due.
How many jobs have you created worldwide ? How many people have you helped with your inventions worldwide ?

As I said if you don't like what I write don't read it.

Everyone has a " mix " of fiber type.
I know there are many subtypes but when you get down to it some fiber mixes fall on one side and some fiber mixes fall on the other side.
If you have a mix that is predominantly fast twitch and you train the muscle as if it were slow twitch the fast twitch fibers will atrophy and the slow twitch fibers will experience hypertrophy and conversely if your muscle is composed primarily of slow twitch and you train as if it were fast twitch the slow twitch fibers will atrophy and what fast twitch fibers you have will experience hypertrophy.
I think this theory adequately explains the apparent phenomenon of fiber conversion.
Inervation of certain fiber type is another story that I can't recall right now.

Bill,

EDITED:

You really do need to get a grip. Jones created weight training machines that he himself said people didn't need to build a body to its potential. He sold them using bodybuilders that built their bodies without his toys and who didn't continue using them when they left due to Jones' insanity.

Changed the World? Like Fleming and penicillin, Currie and radioactivity, the Wright brothers and flight, or Edision and the light bulb? Yes Jones has a place among these giants because he manufactured weight training machines...

A man's legacy is his family and from what I've read Jones' family despised him. What a paragon of manhood.

Seek professional help asap.

P.S.
Go watch any seminar or interview with AJ and tell me he doesn't have issues.

I think the answer here is if you can't stand the heat , stay out of the kitchen. This isn't a venue for you to post your diatribes where everyone just sits on their knees and listens saying yes master, yes master and nothing else but come to think of it that is probably how Jones would run this forum. If memory serves me correctly I recall him pulling a gun at some event when his opinion was challenged.
